Here are some more pictures of the crews I coxed for Churchill College
Cambridge, this time mostly from 1984 to 1986 when I was a Junior Research
Fellow
The College Women's 2nd IV in the 1984 Fairbairns. We were the fastest 2nd
IV, and were only beaten by our own 1st IV.
The Women's 4th IV in the 1986 Mays. We did very well in these bumps, up seven places overall (a double-overbump for up five on the first day, then two bumps). Below shows us returning to the boathouse, when I just held up my camera and luckily took this well-framed picture.
And now for something a little different! In 1986 Churchill College had
Fellows' crew, first as a IV (including the then Vice-Master and Senior Tutor).
The picture above was taken at the end of a head race over the length of the
river Cam, and everyone is looking extremely happy... this is mostly relief, as
we'd never rowed the full course before, and there had been some concern about
whether or not we would be able to finish!
Above is the (mostly) Fellows' VIII that rowed as the College 3rd boat in the 1986 Fairbairns, and below is the (again mostly) Fellows' VIII that rowed as the College 3rd boat in the 1990 Fairbairns. We had to get special dispensation for the latter crew to row in the men's races, as the crew included a female fellow.
